Red (or blue, green, yellow, orange, brown...) Velvet Cake




Red Velvet Cake

Ingredients
  • 2 1/4 cup flour
  • 1/4 cup cocoa
  • 1 tsp baking soda
  • 1 tsp salt
  • 1/2 cup butter, softened
  • 1 1/4 cup sugar
  • 2 eggs
  • 1 oz food color (about 2 tbsp)
  • 1 1/2 tsp vanilla
  • 1 cup buttermilk
Cooking Directions
  1. Cream together butter and sugar.
  2. Add egg and liquids together and beat together until fluffy.
  3. Add in dry ingredients and mix until thoroughly combined.
  4. Heat oven to 350 and grease or line muffin cups or pans.
  5. Fill pans half full and bake until toothpick inserted into center comes out clean.
  6. Cool on rack.
  7. Frost with your choice of frosting (butter cream, cream cheese, etc.).
